Kelulut or kelulut only bees (also called meliponini ) are non -stinging bees that produce honey just like honey bees . It is estimated that nearly 500 species of kelulut are found worldwide, including Geniotrigona thoracica , Heterotrigona itama, Lepidotrigona terminata, Tetragonula laeviceps and Tetrigona apicalis. Honeybees can be found in most tropical regions of the world, such as Australia , Africa , Southeast Asia , and the American tropics . 

Kelulut honey is said to have a variety of nutrients and higher nutrients when compared to bee honey. Kelulut stores honey in small jars coated with propolis . Kelulut honey is not as white as claimed. It tastes a little sour compared to bee honey . These bees are important as pollinating agents in forests and most species of fruits, flowers, vegetables and other crops.
